What happens to the details you send when you apply to test Horizon, and how the optional analytics on this site works.
Who is responsible
VIRON Labs is run by Blaž Kos, who is responsible (the data controller) for the details collected on vironlabs.eu. For any question about your information, write to hello@vironlabs.eu.
Tester applications and updates
When you apply, we receive the details you choose to send: your name and email address, and, if you fill them in, your country, pilot experience, current instrument, the Horizon version you are interested in, what you would like it to do better and your message. We also record when you sent them.
We use these details only to choose and contact Horizon testers, to send VIRON development updates and beta invitations, and to understand what pilots need from the instrument. The legal basis is your consent, given with the tick box in the form. Name and email are needed to apply; everything else is optional.
The form sends your details to VIRON Labs’ sign-up service, which runs on Google Apps Script and stores them in a private Google Sheet. Google provides that service and may process the details outside the European Union; see Google’s privacy policy. Your details are not sold, not shared for advertising, never sent to Google Analytics and not used for anything else.
How long we keep them: until you withdraw, and at most 12 months after testing ends.
Analytics, only if you allow it
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which parts of this site are useful. It runs only after you choose “Allow analytics”. Until then, and if you choose “No analytics”, the site loads nothing from Google Analytics, sends it nothing and sets no analytics cookies.
If you allow it, Google Analytics receives:
- the page you open on vironlabs.eu, the campaign tag of a VIRON link you followed, and the referring site if it is a common search engine or social network;
- which Horizon, Horizon XC or VIRON Air section was at least half on screen for two seconds;
- whether the application form was viewed or started, a count when the sign-up service confirms that an application was saved, the type of any form error, and clicks on our email address.
Google Analytics never receives your name, email address, the text you type or any other form answer. Google also receives technical details such as your browser, device and screen size, and estimates your approximate location from your connection. This site’s code switches off Google signals and advertising personalisation, and keeps advertising cookies denied.
Google Analytics sets two cookies on vironlabs.eu, _ga and _ga_1V1BRT6W83. They expire 90 days after they are set and are not extended. Your choice itself is stored in your browser (not as a cookie) for 180 days; after that we ask again.
You can change your mind at any time with , also at the bottom of every page. Choosing “No analytics” stops collection straight away, in every open tab of this site, and deletes the _ga cookies. Data sent before that stays with Google Analytics for the periods below. The legal basis is your consent. Google provides Google Analytics and may process this data outside the European Union; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
How long Google Analytics keeps it: data linked to the analytics cookie (user-level data) for 14 months, and all other event data for 2 months. The 14-month period starts again each time the same browser sends new activity, so user-level data is deleted once 14 months have passed since the last visit for which you allowed analytics. Google deletes expired data automatically once a month. Aggregated reports, which count visits without linking them to you or to a cookie, are not affected by these periods.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your details, ask us to restrict their use, ask for a copy, or withdraw your consent at any time by writing to hello@vironlabs.eu. Withdrawing does not affect what was done before. You also have the right to complain to the Slovenian Information Commissioner (Informacijski pooblaščenec).
Other technical data
Fonts and images are served from vironlabs.eu itself. Without your analytics consent, the only request to another service is made when you send the form. Our hosting provider may keep standard technical server logs for security and operation.
