VIRON Labs

Calm flight-awareness instruments for paragliding.

VIRON Labs is building a new generation of varios and flight computers focused on intelligent audio, simple decisions, landing safety, and traffic awareness.

Currently in prototype development and real-flight testing preparation.

The idea

Flying already takes enough attention.

Many flight instruments give pilots more data, more menus, and more noise. VIRON is being designed around a different idea: the instrument should reduce workload, not add to it.

In flight, the pilot should not need to search through complicated screens or interpret too much information at the wrong moment. The device should stay calm, clear, and useful.

Before flight: configurable. During flight: obvious.

Flight philosophy

Audio first. Screen second. Clear alerts when they matter.

VIRON tells pilots what matters at the right moment, without turning the cockpit into another distraction.

Calm audio

Useful cues, clear profiles, and fewer unnecessary interruptions during flight.

Simple decisions

Screens and alerts designed around what the pilot needs now, not everything the device can measure.

Real testing

Built step by step with prototypes, flight feedback, and honest development status.

Prototype capabilities

What VIRON is exploring.

VIRON is being developed around practical flight awareness: useful audio, simple navigation, safer landing decisions, and reliable post-flight data.

Air awareness

Audio-first vario behavior is in development, with future experiments around wind sensing, air movement, and true airspeed estimation.

Compass-style navigation

A simple heading and bearing view is planned for quick orientation without map clutter, especially when the pilot needs clear direction fast.

Landing safety

Atlas prototypes are exploring landing-target logic, glide awareness, arrival margin, and clearer guidance toward selected landing options.

Flight safety

Future VIRON systems are being designed with traffic awareness, clear alerts, sensor checks, and pilot workload reduction in mind.

Blackbox logging

Prototype firmware includes flight logging foundations for debugging, replay, testing, and better understanding what happened during a flight.

Real-flight testing

Beta feedback will help tune audio behavior, screen logic, mounting, reliability, battery expectations, and the final Horizon direction.

These are development areas, not final product claims. Final features, sensors, specifications, and certification status may change during testing.
Product family

One product family. Different ways to fly.

Horizon is the first planned commercial direction. Atlas is the larger development platform showing where VIRON is going.

The bigger vision

VIRON Atlas.

A visual flight-awareness platform for maps, landing safety, traffic, and future air intelligence.

  • Advanced prototype and industrial design concept, not yet a commercial product.
  • Used to explore map-based flight awareness, landing-target logic, route display, and blackbox logging.
  • Physical controls are part of the design direction for confident operation in flight.
  • Final specifications, sealing, battery life, weight, and certification status are not yet claimed.
Development status

Built step by step. Tested in real air.

VIRON is being built carefully, with working prototypes, real hardware testing, and pilot feedback before moving toward a commercial product.

Atlas prototype

Active development platform for maps, landing targets, blackbox logging, sensors, audio, and UI experiments.

Audio-first vario engine

Calm, Active, and Silent audio behavior is being developed around lower pilot workload.

Horizon product definition

The first planned commercial product is being shaped around compact hardware, calm audio, and obvious in-flight decisions.

Traffic awareness research

FLARM/FANET integration research has started for future traffic-aware VIRON versions.

VIRON is not yet a certified safety device or a finished commercial product. The goal is to build it properly, test it honestly, and involve pilots early enough to make the product better.
Beta program

Built with pilots, not just for pilots.

VIRON is being developed with real pilot feedback from early prototypes, local test flights, and selected beta users.

Early testers will help shape audio behavior, screen logic, menu structure, mounting, reliability, battery expectations, landing-target workflow, and the final product direction.

VIRON is currently in development. Beta interest does not guarantee product availability, delivery date, or final specifications.

Development Log · First update

VIRON Labs is alive.

VIRON Labs is the beginning of a paragliding instrument project from Slovenia. The idea is simple: flying already takes enough attention. A flight instrument should help the pilot understand what matters, without adding more noise, stress, or unnecessary complexity.

The current advanced prototype is VIRON Atlas. The first planned commercial product direction is VIRON Horizon.

About

Independent, early-stage, and built from Slovenia.

VIRON Labs is an independent hardware project from Slovenia, created by a paraglider pilot and embedded systems builder.

The goal is to build calmer, clearer, and more useful flight instruments for free-flight pilots.

VIRON is still early-stage, but the direction is clear: reliable hardware, thoughtful audio, simple decisions, and instruments that help pilots stay focused on flying.
